Men's Intramurals

Mens_Intramurals_1992.jpgIntramural athletics for men was started in 1926-27 with the intention of getting more men interested in sports. Too many of the men would rather sit in the stands, while a a select few were doing all of the work.

At one point every man at DSU was involved in one of the four intramural teams. At different times of the year, tournaments were held for basketball, quoits, tennis, volleyball and track. Individuals and teams were awarded trophies and medals at the end of the year. There was a rivalry between teams during the school championships which bolstered the interest in sports on campus.

In 1967 the most popular intramural sports were basketball, football, and slow pitch round robin.
