Dakota Prairie Playhouse

Dakota Prairie Playhouse & Conference Center was built in 1988. Dakota State University has the building on a 99 year lease. The building was scheduled to cost $1.5 million and over $1.2 million was raised by fundraising alone. The need for the building was apparent to those in the community and with their help the Dakota Prairie Playhouse was built.

The Dakota Prairie Playhouse is a multi-use facility located on the north edge of campus. The complex contains a conference room, theater, and common entrance for the two sections. The conference room can seat up to 450 people banquet style or up to 600 people in auditorium style seating. This section of the Dakota Prairie Playhouse is ideal for wedding receptions, dances, trade shows, and large group meetings. The room is also wired for the internet.

The theater portion of the Dakota Prairie Playhouse holds 700 people, and houses performing arts including drama, music, and various other entertainments. Williams & Ree, Patsy Cline, Offutt AirForce Military Band, and over 70 plays have graced its stage since 1991.
